FAQ / Common Concerns
What My Patients Often Ask Me
Most people arrive with similar questions — about comfort, recovery, or what their treatment will involve.
Below are the ones I’m asked most often, with short answers that reflect how I explain them in person.
-
Gum recession can happen for several reasons, including gum disease, teeth grinding, aggressive brushing, genetics, or bite imbalance. Over time, recession can expose the roots of the teeth, leading to sensitivity, aesthetic concerns, and even tooth loss if left untreated.
-
Common signs of periodontal disease include bleeding gums, bad breath, gum recession, loose teeth, swelling, and bone loss seen on x-rays. Many patients are surprised to learn that gum disease can progress quietly without significant pain in the early stages.
-
When a tooth is missing, the surrounding bone can gradually shrink over time. Nearby teeth may begin shifting, and bite function can change. Replacing missing teeth early often helps preserve bone structure and maintain long-term oral health.
-
Many patients are candidates for dental implants, even if they have experienced bone loss or previous dental problems. During your consultation, we evaluate bone support, gum health, overall oral condition, and treatment goals to determine the best approach for you.
-
With proper care and healthy gum support, dental implants can last for many years and often decades. Long-term success depends on oral hygiene, regular maintenance, and the overall health of the surrounding gums and bone.

A thoughtful approach to periodontal & implant care
Why do patients describe my care as calming?
Many patients come to a periodontist feeling anxious about surgery, gum disease, tooth loss, or dental implants. My approach is centered around making the experience feel clear, comfortable, and personalized from the very beginning.
Every treatment starts with a detailed conversation about your concerns, your oral health, and the options available to you. I take time to explain diagnoses, imaging, and procedures in a straightforward way so patients always feel informed and supported throughout the process.
Specialized training, focused experience
Where did I train, and what’s my experience?
I completed my specialty training in Periodontics and Implant Surgery at the New York University College of Dentistry, where I received advanced surgical instruction in implant and regenerative therapies.
For over twenty years, I’ve focused on precise, evidence-based treatment — from implant placement and bone grafting to minimally invasive gum surgery. My approach is conservative: preserving natural teeth whenever possible, and recommending implants only when restoration offers the best long-term outcome.
I also collaborate closely with restorative dentists and other specialists to ensure each case is planned with both function and aesthetics in mind. Every patient receives care grounded in the latest science, delivered with clarity, precision, and calm.
